Marriage is a covenant by which a man and woman establish a partnership for their entire life. A loving union of husband and wife signifies family values and God's values. Having said that, the participation of the Sacrament of Marriage in the Catholic Church has requirements.
*Couples must contact their priest one year in advance of their wedding date. This is a standard rule throughout the Diocese.
*Pre cana is also required prior to marriage.
*In order for a person to be married at Our Lady of Good Counsel, they must be a practicing Catholic and a member of our church - No exceptions.
*According to Cannon Law of the Catholic Church, all weddings must take place in a sacred building and not outside such as the beach or backyard. There are no exceptions to this rule.
